In 1989 Harvey's Oil took a tremendous leap of faith and enrolled all its customers in the Furnace Freedom Plans (hot water or warm air furnaces).  Customers had the option of refusing this offer, but those who accepted found that their furnaces would be replaced free of charge if they could not be repaired.

This was a risky - and a costly - venture for Harvey's Oil, but within a few years our customers' furnaces were either made far more efficient, or were replaced because they could not be repaired.

The environment benefited significantly from these equipment coverage plans for two reasons.  First, a lot less oil was being burned to provide the same level of comfort to our customers.  Second, the more efficient units were burning fuel more completely, resulting in far fewer emissions into the atmosphere.
