Every day people are becoming more acutely aware of just how fragile our earth is, and how easily we can destroy it. 

Over the past dozen years (and more) we at Harvey's Oil have been quietly doing a number of things that are helping the environment.

Take oil tanks, for example.  Over a dozen years ago we analyzed the problem of oil tanks that were rusting out and leaking oil, and we started fixing the problem (see Better Oil Tanks for details).  An oil tank that doesn't leak helps keep the environment clean.

Modern and clean oil-fired burners in furnaces and water heaters contribute to the health of the environment by reducing the amount of fuel consumed and by eliminating most of the harmful emissions into the atmosphere.  We have made significant contributions here with our policy of no charge burner labor (for customers purchasing their fuel requirements from Harvey's Oil) and the introduction of our Furnace Freedom equipment coverage plans.

As a company that handles environmentally sensitive materials (heating and fuel oil and lubricants), we place a high priority on all issues that relate to safety and the environment.  Our oil truck drivers receive regular training in both driving skills and the proper handling of the products they carry.  We have had an "Oil Spill Contingency and Emergency response Plan" in place since 1989, and it has been revised and updated at least every year.

We also comply with the government's new "Used Oil Control Regulations", which came into effect on April 1, 2003.  We will take back, at no charge, used oil that our customers have purchased from Harvey's Oil, and dispose of it in an environmentally friendly manner.
